With the way the world is headed
I’m surprised we’re not all blue
Zealots* and racists running rampant
It’s a shame, I’m telling you
It’s like history’s on repeat
Or perhaps perpetual rewind
Either way, it’s going nowhere
The fearful led by the blind
Such a dark history we’ve written
Why are we still sinking into the sand?
Prejudice is the poison that we’ve eaten
This is something I just don’t understand
This is something I just don’t understand
You may find my words offensive
But my dear, that’s just the truth
The world’s become a circus
And we’re running the dunking booth
You’d think we’d be advancing
Not one step forward, two behind
Drowning in our own transgressions
In this rotten state of mind
Such a dark history we’ve written
Why are we still sinking into the sand?
Prejudice is the poison that we’ve eaten
This is something I just don’t understand
This is something I just don’t understand
Such a dark history we’ve written
Why are we still sinking into the sand?
Prejudice is the poison that we’ve eaten
This is something I just don’t understand
This is something I just don’t understand
*The use of zealots here refers to extreme and uncompromising fanatics in any arena (i.e. religious, political, etc.) not in reference to Judaism or the historical religious sect.
